Renewal of Registration certificate for your vehicle.

A registration certificate or RC (sometimes also called Blue Book) is an official document stating that your vehicle is registered with the Indian Government. It acts as a document proving the registration of your motor vehicle. In India, it is essential for a vehicle owner to have a registration certificate as the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 makes it mandatory for every vehicle owner to have a valid RC to be able to drive a motor vehicle on Indian Roads. The MV Act states that no person can drive a motor vehicle on Indian roads without a registration certificate.

As per Central Motor Vehicle Rules, all private vehicles are to re-register the vehicle after 15 years for every 5 years, for as long as it is considered road worthy by the department. Here is the procedure to obtain a registration certificate for your vehicle:

  • Duly filled Form 25 i.e., the renewal form for the registration certificate. It is to be submitted to the authority who has issued the certificate
  • Registration certificate in original.
  • Pollution under control certificate (PUC).
  • Valid Insurance certificate.
  • Tax token paid by the owner.
  • Vehicle is then to be produced before registering authority for inspection.
  • Re-registration Fee is to be paid at the cash counter and receipt for the same will be given.
  • New registration certificate will be issued by the department.

In case of a lost/misplaced, stolen, or torn RC, a duplicate RC can be issue by the Motor Vehicles Department for a fee. If you want to avoid the hassle of obtaining a renewed Registration certificate the you could book an appointment with Drivekool.
